Grenache from the oldest block in South Africa, planted in 1952. Cranberry, cherry, plum, strawberry, an abundance of red fruits come reeling out of the glass. Sketched in with a kelp-like umami, dark roses—vivid and haunting aromatics, deeper notes of black cherry and toasting spice. The palate is just as complex, packed full of energy, a shifting sand dune of flavour with a seductive transparency of tannins and a driven, pure acidity. (92)
